Curtis Wilbur He/ Him
Curtis Wilbur is a Chicago based abstract oil painter. His paintings are inspired by the compositions of the Section d'Or cubists and incorporate color theory relating to time and memory. Structured using fundamental and traditional principles of symmetry, form, rotation, and line, his work invites the viewer into contemplation as the eye enjoys moving across the two-dimensional surface of the painting. Wilbur also employs great care to only use the most traditional practices of working with his materials. His paintings are developed on canvases primed with traditional collagen glue, a natural sizing material which has been in use since the 2nd Century BC. Only non-toxic, plant based solvents, such as lavender spike oil and walnut oil, are used in mixing the oil paints.
